Lester Ellis is well known as the "people's champion" - and rightly so.

Nicknamed "The Master Blaster", Lester started his fight career at the age of 13 under the guidance of his brother Keith and quickly established why he earned such a powerful nickname. He fought hard and won some 5 Amateur State Titles and 3 National Titles before turning pro at the age of 18. From this point on his career flourished, winning 3 National Titles, 2 Commonwealth Titles and an amazing 5 World Titles. As if this wasn't proof enough of his great ring speed and power packed punching, Lester also achieved the status of "Fighter of the Year" on three occasions. It was quite an honour and an eye opener for this young gun from the Western Suburbs of Melbourne to travel the World, seeing so much and meeting people he had only ever dreamed of meeting. Ever the flamboyant one, Lester is remembered by many Melbournians for his fight with the sharp and infamously lippy Barry "Boy" Michael, a fight that although he lost, he proved he didn't know the meaning of giving in, and that fight is still rated by many boxing pundits as one of the greats.

Now married with three boys, Lester spends a great deal of his time teaching many young, not so fortunate Australians that it is important to have a dream. Lester will never change his attitude that we are all born equal and will be forever known for his undying support for the underdog in any situation.
