World Bantamweight Champion (IBF) 1985-87

Super Bantamweight Champion (WBC)  1987-88

World Featherweight Champion (WBC) 1987-1990

Described as a non-stop punching machine, Fenech captured the IBF bantamweight crown with a ninth round knockout of Sitoshi Shingaki in only his seventh pro bout.  A rugged fighter with a sturdy chin, he became a champion in three different weight divisions.  ON June 28th 1991 he challenged Jr.  Lightweight champion Azumah Nelson for what he hoped to be his fourth world title.  In what many ringsiders felt to be his greatest fight he hammered Nelson on the ropes for twelve rounds only to suffer a controversial draw at the hands of the judges.  Despite periods of inactivity due to problems with brittle hands this two fisted brawler and his exciting style of fighting will undoubtedly continue to entertain boxing fans for years to come.
